Hiking
Hiking on the beach is certainly a beautiful experience in Los Cabos, but a trek through the desert is equally spectacular. Desert hiking is recommended in the winter, with comfortable temperatures in the '70's. Summer hiking in Baja can be done with care and ample suppy of potable water, and early morning is the best time to hit the trail.
DO NOT hike alone, so please plan a trip with fellow experienced hikers and contact a hiking company to book a guided trip.
Wear leather boots and make some noise on the trail as you may encounter rattlers or other snakes. Have a supply of sunscreen and a hat as well as a cell phone.
Favorite areas are in the nearby La Laguna mountains and fossil fields of the Cape (Cabo) region. Daytrips, overnight hikes and camping trips are offered, allowing customized adventures for every skill level. History and ecology are emphasized. Private, government licensed guide service is also an option. (More on La Laguna hiking)
One of several highly recommended hikes is to the waterfalls at Santiago. Santiago is a small community about an hour and a half from Los Cabos east past San José on the main highway. The water falls, called cascadas, are found off the main road heading south of Santiago. The hike is an easy half hour uphill climb through a maze of boulders and rock formations. At the top you will discover pools of clear water, perfect for swimming. (later in the summer the water levels may be quite low) Take a lunch and enjoy your day.
The entire Cabo San Lucas night scene is within walking distance.
Nightlife in Los Cabos, Mexico: Nigthclubs, Dance clubs & more
Cabo Wabo
This is a lounge/cabaret/cantina that plays loud rock with a party atmoshpere. Located on Guerrero Street, it has another entrance on Plaza de Los Mariachis. Don't miss out on Cabo Wabo's very own brand of house tequila. Van Halen founded the Cabo Wabo and Sammy Hagar, formerly of Van Halen later bought it outright. Famous stars are often seen here.
El Squid Roe
Los Cabos night life starts at El Squid Roe, a three-story building of pure energy, jam-packed with people all the time. The waiters are equipped with tequila spray tanks to quench the thirst of those who dance on the tables to the loud beats. Walls are ornamented with signs with funny phrases and bright-colored neon lights. You will see the crowds overlooking the open-air dance floor so you won't miss out on a second of an absolute good time. El Squid Roe is one of the most popular nightclubs in Los Cabos but is definitely not for the faint of heart. Here, anything can happen! Another place to run into a star!
The Giggling Marlin
The Giggling Marlin is a well-known restaurant and bar, where you can have fun, listen to great music and see a wonderful show. There you can be hoisted by the ankles as if you were a fish just caught, while you guzzle all the margaritas and tequilas that your body can handle. Enjoy: that is also part of the show!
The Nowhere Bar
Enjoy the night at this very fashionable locale. One of the main local bars, The Nowhere Bar is located on the marina and offers a daily happy hour, a sushi bar, great music and an excellent ambience until the wee hours of the morning.
Zoo
Experience a non-stop night of fun at Zoo, in the heart of Cabo San Lucas's party zone. Giraffes, gorillas and elephants are just three of the house specials, created by mixing the best vodka, rum or tequila with refreshing natural juices and other liquors; you have to try at least one of them! Talking about the great party atmosphere of Zoo, we have to mention the state of the art sound system, so powerful it seems to make the walls 'rock' to the beat of hip-hop, electro and rock music. As you would expect from a place named Zoo the funky decor consists of cages and safari images. Definitely a must for wild party animals!
